Carport Roof Designs

Before Contacting Us for a quote please read about CARPORT COUNCIL GUIDELINES at the bottom of this page.

Our Carport roofs are designed to meet your requirements and blend to the look of your home using full colour, low maintenance materials.

We build using insulated roofing panels which have qualities that make it the best option compared to any other carport roofing product

  • The foam core reduces heat, making your carport area cooler.

  • It can span great distances, up to 8.6 metres. Depending on wind rating and type of attachment to the house.

  • Lightwires can be concealed inside the joins of the roofing. No unsightly electrical conduits to see.

  • It has a flat ceiling finish, comparable to inside homes.

  • Comes in a corrugated and ribbed finish on top, which, depending on the colour, can match your home.

  • Easy to maintain and won’t produce mildew under the ceiling from condensation. More information on the product we use can be viewed here.

Carport Council Guidelines

*Please note that the following are general guidelines only and other factors not listed could be required for council requirements.

Carports front of home within 6 metres of front fence/boundary

In residential areas the general rule is no structures can be built within 6 metres from the front boundary line to the home.

This can be relaxed with an application to council for consideration but usually not approved unless there are already approved carports in the street you live in along with considerations of street appeal and vegetation screening of the proposed carport.

A decision by council town planning not to support the carport can be upheld or overturned by a state tribunal but consideration must be taken in regards to cost for these applications before proceeding.

A carport that has the front outer most projection of 4.5 metres to the front boundary are more likely to be approved with a relaxation.

Carports on side of home to side fence

Carports on the side of home within 1.5 metres from side boundary can be approved with a standard application with the following guidelines.

  • The proposed carport must show vehicle access.

  • The maximum build along a fence line within 1.5 metres of the side boundary is 9 metres (including any other structures such as sheds included). However, fire regulations require that the structure can only be twice the length of the opening width between house wall and boundary/fence line. E.g if your opening width is 3 metres the carport can be 6 metres in length. If your side fence is angled to the home add the front and rear openings which will give the length. E.g Front opening 3.5 meters + 3 metres rear opening = 6.5 metres long carport.

  • Structures cannot be built over or have footings within 900mm of a main sewer/stormwater easement.

  • Height restrictions can apply in certain councils

  • The carport must stay open and cannot have walls or roller doors.

When Contacting Us please provide your address and what you're proposing so we can determine the council approval before a site visit.
